Marcus Aurelius Bust
“Long after his death, his bust was to be seen in the houses of private men through the wide Roman empire... [bearing] witness, not to the intimates’ frivolous curiosity about princes and palaces, but to their reverential memory of the passage of a great man upon the earth.” —Matthew Arnold
Only available for delivery to US-based locations.
A 5.5” tall, hand-sculpted pewter portrait bust of Marcus Aurelius. Individually hand-numbered, patinated and waxed with an aged verdigris finish. Mounted on a 3”x3”x2.5” cherry wood base with an espresso stain. Comes wrapped in an emerald-green velour pouch with an included hand-numbered and signed certificate of authenticity.
This bust of Marcus Aurelius was inspired by Ryan’s own antique bust that he keeps on his writing desk. It was a source of inspiration to him while he wrote his own reflections on Stoicism like Stillness Is the Key, Ego Is the Enemy, and The Obstacle Is the Way. Designed exclusively for readers of the Daily Stoic by ES Schubert Sculpture Studios, this bust was made to be passed down and to one day serve as an antique of its own—perhaps yours will inspire you in the same way Ryan’s inspired him.
