Memento Mori Premium ID Bracelet
Bracelets will ship the week of December 15th, to arrive before Christmas
The Memento Mori Premium ID Bracelet is the newest addition to the Memento Mori collection.
In Meditations, Marcus Aurelius wrote “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.” That was a personal reminder to continue living a life of virtue NOW, and not wait. The French painter Philippe de Champaigne expressed a similar sentiment in his painting "Still Life with a Skull," which showed the three essentials of existence: the tulip (life), the skull (death), and the hourglass (time). The original painting is part of a genre referred to as Vanitas, a form of 17th century artwork featuring symbols of mortality which encourage reflection on the meaning and fleetingness of life.
The Memento Mori Premium ID Bracelet acts as a delicate and inescapable reminder of your mortality and opportunity to live virtuously each day. One side of the bracelet shows the hourglass, skull, and tulip inspired by Philippe de Champaigne’s painting. On the other side are the words MEMENTO MORI. The bracelet can be worn with either side facing outwards.
This design, custom to Daily Stoic, was hand-sketched by an artist in Brooklyn, NY, Lewis Williams. The bracelet is handmade by Williams, using the ancient processes of carving into wax and casting into sterling silver and then sawing, engraving, hammering, and soldering the metals with precision and care.
Each bracelet features a 7"(small) or 8”(medium) sterling silver bracelet and is handcrafted in Italy using traditional techniques and only the finest materials.
